John L. Tripp, of Spring Hill, FL died peacefully at his home with his wife Isabel at his side on December 15, 2023 at the age of 90. John was born on November 19, 1932 in Chenango Bridge, NY to the late Benjamin and Marjorie (Smith) Tripp. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956, having earned the Bronze Service Star.
John worked most of his life for the Tampa Electric Leadership Team (TECO), retiring in 1990. He also held a realtor license in Florida for many years. On March 11, 1993 John married Isabel Gomez who survives him. John is also survived by his daughters, Brenda Smak, Denise Wilson, and Cheryle Spinosa, all of Milwaukee, WI; his brother, Mark Doliver, of Norwich; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Al Tripp, James Doliver, and David Doliver, as well as his sister, Judy Streichert.
John, or Johnny as he preferred to be called, will be remembered for his sense of humor and his remarkable ability to make everyone laugh. He cherished the simple joys of life along with a good party now and then. John loved his home in Spring Hill, FL and also his summer home in Norwich where he came back each year to catch up with his neighbors, family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 28, at St. Paul’s Church, 30 Pleasant St. Norwich with Fr. Ralph Bove officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial with military honors will take place in the spring at Guilford Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to Hospice of Spring Hill, Florida.
