Jean R. Parr Myers, 85, from Norwich passed away on July 10, 2023. She was born in Glasglow, Scotland on August 15, 1937 to the late James and Jessie Parr, of Glasglow. She was also predeceased by her son, James Myers; her daughter, Janice Yerton; and her brother, James Parr. Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Bernie Tibbens, of Sherburne; her grandchildren, Molly Myers, of Cooperstown, Cameron Yerton, of Sherburne, and Jesse Yerton, of Sherburne; her great-grandchildren, Chance Yerton, of Sherburne, and Penelope Hernandez, of Cooperstown; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the Atlantic.
Jean grew up in Glasgow, Scotland where she graduated from Govan High School and went on to receive a degree from a business college in Scotland before she moved to Norwich at the age of 21. While living in Norwich, Jean was married to John Myers, II and later became divorced. Jean made her living as a secretary and later a nurse at St. Paul’s School and later became the Chief Executive Secretary at Chenango Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. She was very devoted to St. Paul’s Church in Norwich and she spent many years volunteering at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich. For those who grieve and say “She’s gone”, know that there are others who are smiling and saying “Here she comes!”
A prayer service for Jean will take place at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 19, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Deacon Dave Kirsch officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of service.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial luncheon at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich immediately following the burial service.
