He was born March 24, 1952 in Norwich, N.Y, to the late Lawrence and Theresa (Coy) Kreiner.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Kreiner, his son Michael (Maureen) Kreiner and his daughter, Cleo Grace (David) Weiss. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary (Elizabeth) Weiss, Jacob (Chelsea) Weiss, Justin Kreiner, Ryan (fiancé Yeraldin Galvez and daughter Eva) Kreiner, Regan Weiss, Joshua Weiss and Sophie Grace Kreiner as well as his sisters Jackie Kreiner, Linda (Floyd) Winton and brothers Thomas (Kathy) Kreiner, Jerry (Virginia) Kreiner as well as several nieces and nephews.
After having worked for years in the construction and telecommunications industries as well as having owned and run Kreiner Construction, he retired in 2007. Steve was an avid antique gas engine enthusiast, was a member of several gas engine associations and enjoyed collecting them and “bringing them back to life”. He earned the family nickname of “Diddle” due to his love to always having to fix things or find out how they worked, leading to the sign hanging in his workshop stating “if I can’t fix it, it ain’t broke.” He not only loved his children and grandchildren but was EXTREMELY PROUD of them and all they have already accomplished in life. He came across to many as being gruff, or rough around the edges but to those who truly knew him, his family and close friends they knew a man who would do anything to protect them and whose love for his family was deeper than an ocean and stronger than a hurricane. Words cannot explain his devotion to them all or how very much he will be missed.
.
As he wished – there will be no formal funeral but a “Found Farwell” will be held at the Taylor’s County House, 297 NY-320, Norwich, N.Y. on Wednesday July 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
