Donald was a 1963 graduate from Minisink Valley Central Schools. In April of 1965 Donald was drafted into the US Army where he was a MP and a Sharpshooter stationed at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the Vietnam War. On January 20, 1966 he Married Geraldine A. Cole in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After the Army Donald worked for F&J Sand and Gravel in Westtown NY, before moving to upstate NY in 1971. He then started working for Ford Homes in McDonough, NY until they closed. He was also a self-employed logger for many years, owned and operated his own sawmill, before retiring as a school bus driver for Oxford Academy Central Schools.
Donald loved his fruit trees and his gardens. He was an avid hunter and loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed his multiple koi ponds and feeding them daily. One of his greatest loves was his dog Duke who predeceased him in 2018.
Donald is survived by his wife Geraldine Moore(Norwich), sisters Diane Doty(Oxford), Ginny Banuat (Missouri), his son and his wife Jeffrey & Dinnett Moore (Preston), his daughters and their spouses Nettie & Craig Roberts (Norwich), Tina & Willie Rice (Preston), Betsy Vreeland (South Carolina). His grandchildren Kyler & Devin Moore, Matthew and Zachary Yacano, Emily, Andrew, Christopher, & Elizabeth Hendrickson. His Great grandkids Madilyn Yacano, Keegan Strobeck, Ezekiel Himme, Annabelle Hendrickson, & Tanner Reber. Also surviving are his friends James and Joanne Dean(Preston).
He was predeceased by his sister and brother in law Earnest & Gloria Creeden (Cincinnatus), and brothers in law Charles Doty (Oxford), & Alfred Banuat (Missouri).
It was Donald’s wish to have no services or calling hours.
