Deanna J. Johnson

Deanna was born in McDonough on November 7, 1941 the daughter of Elmer and Reva (Faulk) Wood. She grew up in McDonough and attended the Oxford schools from which she graduated. On August 26, 1961 in McDonough she married Stuart W. Johnson. Deanna and Stuart have made their home in Preston since their marriage in 1961. Together they raised a family and operated their dairy farm for many years. She became Preston Town Clerk in 1975 a position she held until 2015.Deanna had also worked for the local telephone office as well as Tuckers Store in McDonough.

Deanna was always ready to help in whatever way she could. Never afraid of work she worked along side her husband in the operation their farm as well as raising her family. She also was a longtime Republican Committee Woman. Deanna was an excellent baker especially her macaroni and cheese which she made from scratch and her peanut butter fudge. In her quiet time did crocheting.

Deanna’s family and her daughters were her life, especially her daughter Janice along with her grandchildren Haili and Elizabeth who were the light of her eye.

Deanna is survived by her husband Stuart of Preston, daughters Nancy (Philip) Harders of Binghamton, Janice Johnson of Preston, Penni (Leonard) Mills of Norwich and Jenni (Dean) Bliven of Guilderland. Also surviving are her grandchildren Haili Mills (Joseph Straight) and Elizabeth Bliven, brother Amos (Sandy) Wood, nephew Timothy Wood and her favorite canine friends Molly and Holly. Several cousins also survive.

A private graveside service for Deanna will be held from the Union Cemetery of McDonough. There will be no calling hours.
