Cheryl L. Squires Persons

Cheryl was born on July 14, 1958, to the late Richard Eugene LaFave Sr. and Agnes Cecilia Rogan, of Binghamton, NY. Cheryl graduated from Norwich High School in 1976, where she went on to become a well-known waitress in the Norwich area. In the earlier 2000’s, she completed her Certified Nursing Assistance certification and found her calling as a Residential Aide. In 2009, Cheryl met Dave Persons at a family gathering in New Berlin, NY. Cheryl and Dave tied the knot on July 15, 2018, on the white sandy Navarre Beach in Florida. They became avid travelers, mostly to South Carolina to see family.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her stepfather, Arthur Clyde Johnson; and her first husband, Michael Allan Squires Sr. She is survived by her husband, Dave Allen Persons; her stepfather, Clarence Prentice; her sons, Jeremy Allan Squires, and Joshua James Squires; her stepson, Michael Allen II, and Jaime Snyder Squires; her grandchildren, Caitlyn Squires, Michael Allen Squires III, Lauren Noel Squires, Kirstin Stewart, and Jeremy Allan Squires Jr.; her siblings, Richard, and Delilah LaFave, of Florida; Robert Ralph, of Worchester, NY, Renee Overstreet, Michelle and Scott Campbell, of South Carolina; Penny and Lee Nabinger, of Greene, NY; Al Prentice, of Afton, NY, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Pastor James Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charites of Norwich, 3 O’Hara Dr. Norwich, NY 13815, in honor of Cheryl Squires Persons.
