Anna was born in Madison, NJ on December. 13, 1931, the daughter of George and Anna (Colbert) Stokes and was a graduate of Oneonta High School. On Jan. 30, 1953, Anna married Charles M. Finch in Oneonta, NY.
Anna was a longtime resident of Oneonta until she and Charlie moved to Norwich in 2010. Her family was the greatest joy in her life. She worked at New York Telephone Company until she chose to devote all her energy to caring for her four children. Anna was always busy and made sure things were taken care of in the home for her family. Anna and Charlie spent their early retirement years watching their family grow with grandchildren and visiting family across the country. Long walks in Wilber Park were a big part of their daily routine. Thanksgiving Day was the day the family gathered at the Finch’s. Summer days when her children and grandchildren came for a picnic on the back porch were especially special to Anna. It was a happy time in her life.
After moving to Norwich, Anna embraced the next phase of her life and became very active with new friends and activities in the community. Exercise at the YMCA, spirited card games with new friends, and day trips with her best friend Alberta Oralls filled her days. Anna and Alberta were regulars at their grandchildren’s school and sporting events. They spent winters together in Myrtle Beach, loved frequent summer outings at The Lodge on Chenango Lake, and trips together to Siesta Key, Florida. She regularly attended Faith Bible Church in Oxford, NY.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Charles, sister Frieda (Stokes) DeMartin, and brother Allan Stokes. She is survived by her sister Olive Houlday, Neptune NJ, four children, Chan and his wife Arlene Finch of Houston, TX, Carol (Finch) Oralls and her husband Dennis of Norwich, Jeff Finch of Deer Park NY, and Denise (Finch) Bozsik and her husband Richard, Grandchildren Arianne Finch, Dennis Oralls II, Michael Oralls, Thomas Finch, Matthew Finch, Julianna Finch, Alexandra Finch, Rachael Bozsik, and Claudia Bozsik.
