William Nelson Sebastian Sr.

Preston - William Nelson Sebastian, 75, of Brooklyn, CT a devoted husband and father, formerly of Preston, died Thursday morning at the Pierce Baptist Rehab Center in Brooklyn, following an 11 year battle with Cancer.

He was born in Norwich, August 21, 1938, a son of the late William Roger, and Gladys (Wheeler) Sebastian, and resided in Preston most of his life, before moving from his family farm to Brooklyn.

He married Mary Coffey, on January 30, 1960. She predeceased him Sept 17, 2007.

He first worked in construction, Then for a number of years at Holdridge farm nursery, Dow Chemical and returned to school and received a degree in civil engineering. He took a position with the State of Ct. Dept of Transportation, and worked there many years before he retired.

He was a past member of the Preston City Vol. Fire Co., Preston City Grange, and attended the Calvary Baptist Church.

He had a passion for farming and traveled extensively with his wife Mary before her passing. They enjoyed many wonderful trips in the States, and around the world.

He is survived by his son William (Ned), his wife Amy, and five loving grandchildren Colin, Katrina, Christopher, Carly, and Connor. A sister, Ruth and her husband Robert Gauthier, and a brother Kenneth and his wife Donna Sebastian. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Betty and her husband Larry Lesser.

Visitation will be Sunday 5-7pm at the Labenski Funeral Home 107 Boswell Ave. Norwich. The funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 am at the Open Bible Baptist Church, Route 6 Brooklyn, Ct. with burial to follow in Pachaug Cemetery.
