Timothy Donehey

Uncasville — Timothy Edward Donehey, 63, of Uncasville passed away May 14, 2021, at Hartford Hospital. He was born June 30, 1957, Brockton, Mass., to Albert E. Donehey Jr. and Laura E. (White) Donehey.

Tim had a great sense of humor and he had such a big heart. He loved people of all backgrounds and was gifted with making any stranger he met a new friend, this seemed to be his ministry in life. He loved all kinds of animals, especially cats and rabbits and squirrels and he always saved a little of his food to share with them most every day.

Tim or Timmy as he liked to be called was also quite smart and knew a lot of things that other people would not know he knew unless they took the time to have a good conversation with him, especially when it came to music. He listened to music non-stop, and he also had a very good singing voice! He had recently gotten in touch with his artistic side and found great pleasure in adult coloring books of cats which he shared with his sister, Linda.

He also liked the regular calls and art projects he received from his sister Linda to help keep his spirits up during these pandemic months and especially with his cancer diagnosis.

Tim was born at two pounds with serious health issues, but his twin was healthy. Although he got a rough start to life, he was always a happy, funny guy with lots of love and lots of friends. Growing into his teens was tough but Tim was tougher than life growing up in Boston during the turbulent ‘60s and ‘70s which gave him some real-life street skills and a great sense of humor that got him through some dangerous times. Tim loved to travel and had a real sense of adventure and made sure to visit all his siblings wherever they lived in the U.S. His bicycles may have been stolen many times, but that never stopped him from getting around, he could walk for miles and miles and he often did!

Tim was preceded in death by his twin brother Tom who passed away in 1985; his father Albert Donehey in 1986; and his mother, Laura White-Donehey in 1987. He is survived by sister Linda Clauson of Renton, Wash.; brothers, Daniel Donehey of Fredericksburg, Va., William Donehey of Uncasville and David Donehey of Hull, Mass.

Services will be held at a later date at Fort Shantok Burial Grounds.
