Sally Ann (Welsh) Tyler, aged 71, of Norwich passed away on the morning of Friday, September 8, 2023 after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on December 23, 1951, in Norwich, CT, daughter of the late William J. Welsh Sr. and Lillian Bessette Welsh. Sally was the mother of Cynthia Tyler-Burton, Jessica Suplee, Bryan R. Tyler, and Rachal Rubelmann. She was the grandmother of Emily Grace Turner, Bella Grace Tyler, Gabriel William Suplee, Mackenzie Grace Suplee, Hannah Lillian Suplee, and Scarlett Ann. Sally is survived by her siblings William Welsh Jr., Kelley Welsh, Kathie Michaud, Scott Welsh, and Jodi Palaia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Colleen Welsh-Baker, Neil Welsh, Kerry Brown, Lynn Dike, and Stacey Davis.
Sally attended Norwich Free Academy and graduated from Three Rivers College. Sally was a hippie-at-heart, and loved the beach, music, and anything tie-dyed. She enjoyed Chinese food and going to the casino with her sisters. She had recently become involved with the Norwich Senior Center, where she learned how to quilt.
Sally made it her life’s work to help others in the field of health and human services. Sally will always be remembered for her big heart. She loved spending time with family and was always there to support them. She was like a mother to many, welcoming all to her table for a cup of coffee and an ear to listen. Sally will be missed dearly by everyone whose lives she touched.
Calling hours for Sally will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave, Norwich, CT, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.
