Robert L. Southwick passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 21,2021 at Greentree Manor in Waterford, CT. He was born on March 3, 1933 in Hollis, ME to the late Thomas and Alta (Usher) Southwick. He was predeceased by his first wife Diane (Tripp) Southwick with whom he had 3 children. He was also predeceased by his second wife June (Brock) Southwick who passed away in 2017. Two brothers, Tom Southwick and Millard Southwick and a sister Lucille Bailey also predeceased him. He is survived by his brother Dwight Southwick and his wife Ruth.
Bob served in the US Marine Corps with an honorable discharge in February 1955. He received a National Defense Service Ribbon for his contributions and was very proud of his marine service.
Bob grew up on a farm in Hollis, Maine. He was a hard working Yankee and an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and camping with his brother Dwight in Maine.
Bob worked at Pratt &Whitney in Middletown, CT for many years, retiring in 1988. After retirement, Bob & June travelled extensively with their dog Alex and their camper going to Alaska and many national parks.
Bob leaves behind his three children, Robert Southwick and his wife Kathleen of Silverton, Oregon, William Southwick and his wife Brenda of Portland, Maine, and Carol Wilke of Clarksville, Tennessee. Two step daughters Linda Blinn-Smolen and spouse Walden of Bozrah, CT and Lisa Blinn and spouse John Carlton of South Berwick, ME. He was predeceased by stepson Robert Blinn of Pelham, NH. Bob leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
His family would like to thank Greentree Manor for their care and support and for their heroic actions during this time of Coronavirus.
Because of the Coronavirus, there will be no immediate funeral services. Future burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery in Standish, Maine.
