Les predeceased her after 47 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Oden Bernard Peele and Ivy Benjamin Peele, and her sister, Germaine Hamer. Patricia leaves her loving children and their families. These include her son, Timothy Burgess, and his fiancé, Barbara Altieri, daughter, Martha Robarge, and her husband, Robert, and daughter, Amy Campbell and her husband, Hugh. Also included are her precious grandchildren, Brian Burgess and his wife, Jane, Kyle Campbell and his wife, Meghan, Scott Burgess and his wife, Emily, Aaron Robarge and his wife, Addy, Eric Campbell and his wife, Kristin, Dean Robarge, and Megan Shulman and her husband, Joshua, and eight great-grandchildren, Carter, Eliza, Svea, Reece, Otto, Will, Maggie, and Ella. Her happiest moments were when she and her family were together, enjoying one another’s company. Patricia was born in Morehead City, North Carolina, while her family resided in Hatteras Village, North Carolina. During her childhood, she lived in Virginia Beach, VA, Staten Island, NY, Hatteras NC, and Norwich, CT, moving with her family while her father served in the Coast Guard. Patricia graduated from the Norwich Free Academy, class of 1947, and remained a dedicated alumna throughout her adult life. After landing in Norwich, Patricia first worked for the WICH radio station. Following her marriage to Leslie and the birth of their three children, Pat graduated from the University of Connecticut and was employed as a Home Economics teacher at the Norwich Free Academy. During her tenure of over 20 years, she was recognized as a Connecticut Home Economics Teacher of the Year. She also served as the Department Chair. While she remained in Norwich for the rest of her life, Patricia was a southerner at heart, and often returned to Hatteras with her husband and children to visit her large extended family. Pat loved to sew, knit, craft, read, and assist in planning her high school reunions. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her rays of sunshine, and always brought a smile to her face. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Companions and Homemakers, specifically Carol Lamie, who assisted Pat for five years, and to Masonicare Hospice for their support and guidance. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s honor to the Hatteras Public Library, 57709 NC-12, Hatteras, NC 27943. Pat’s mother, Lillie, began the library.
