Maria DiMaggio

Maria was born on February 3rd, 1936, in Tusa, Sicily, Italy to Josephina (Franco) and Giuseppe DiMaggio. She was married to Giuseppe Eugene DiMaggio on April 30th, 1955. She and her family immigrated to the United States, in 1966, where they made their home in Norwich, CT. Maria lived in Norwich the remaining days of her life.

Maria is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, Giuseppe Eugene DiMaggio of Norwich, her son Antonio DiMaggio of London, England, her granddaughter Renee Busanet and her husband Jesus, her great grandchild Taylor Ross, several other great grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Rosalba (Salamone) DiMaggio and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father Josephina (Franco) DiMaggio and Giuseppe DiMaggio, her son Antonino DiMaggio and her daughter Rosaria DiMaggio.

She worked at the Norwich Bulletin for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved working in the garden, cooking for family members, crocheting and reading novels. She loved life and helping everyone and now she is in the hands of the good Lord. She will be missed by all.

Calling hours for Maria will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich. A mass of Christian burial will occur after the calling hours at 12:00 PM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich. Burial will immediately follow the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery, 815 Boswell Ave, Norwich. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
