Norwich- John Michael Scalaro, a dedicated, hardworking laborer, avid football fan, motorcycle enthusiast, and friend to all has sadly passed away at the age of 67 at his home in Norwich on April 12, 2024.
John was born in Norwich, Ct. on September 1, 1956, to Charles Richard and Evelyn Marie (Thibeault) Scalaro. He was a lifelong resident of Norwich and attended Norwich schools.
John was a member of the Laborers Union Local 547 and worked many years in construction until his retirement. Some major construction projects that John was a part of were Millstone Unit III, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos.
John kept busy in retirement by attending numerous stadium and local music venues such as “Rock the Docks”, going to the beach, following Nascar racing, and doting on his cats for whom he cherished. He was also a member of the Taftville Knights of Columbus, Sprague Rod & Gun Club, Silverstar A.C., Jaques Cartier Club, and the Fitchville Moose Lodge.
John was predeceased by his beloved parents and nephew Jeffery C. Scalaro, Jr. He leaves behind his siblings: Charles and Victoria Scalaro of Niantic, Ann and Nathaniel Green of Springfield, MA, Jeffery and Lynn Scalaro of Norwich, Peter and Barbara Scalaro of Mystic, and Sandy and David Hebert of Ormond Beach, FL. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John will be incredibly missed for his kindness and generosity to all that knew him and for always being the life of the party.
Burial will be private. A Celebration of Life will take place in the future for all of John’s family and friends.
