John served in the Navy stationed in Vietnam and earned numerous awards. After an honorable discharge John eventually opened his own business: Birdsall’s Vacuum Service.
He was a firm believer in God and was treasurer of Versailles United Methodist Church. He was also very active in Masonic organizations: Union Lodge #3, Union Chapter #7 RAM, Cushing Council #4 R&SM,
Palestine Commandery #6, and Sachem Chapter #57 Order of Eastern Star and held the position of secretary or treasurer in each of these organizations.
John is survived by his wife Karen (Hetzel) Birdsall, son John “Andy” (Maryann) Birdsall, daughter Deborah (Eric) Connors, grandchildren Andrew, Marissa, John, Kaylee, and step-grandson Thomas, two great-grandchildren, and a niece and two nephews. John is also survived by siblings Robert and Cheryl Birdsall.
A service for John will be held on September 30, 2023 at 9:00am at the State Veterans Cemetery 317 Bow Lane Middletown, Ct with a celebration of life following at Bayview Lodge 32 Society Road Niantic CT.
