Jean Lent Neumann, age 85, of Groton, formerly of Norwich, CT died on March 11, 2015. She was born July 16, 1929 in Madison, CT, daughter of the late Edward and Doris (Cunningham) Lent of Cheshire, CT. She was married for 69 years to Harold Douglas Neumann Jr.
She is survived by her five children including Linda Tublitz and her husband Daniel of Boca Raton, FL, Harold Neumann III and his wife Cheryl of Norwich, Robert Neumann and his wife Joan Louise of Thomaston, CT, Lori Neumann of Salem, CT and Amy Neumann of Columbia, CT. She is also survived by her sister in law Madelyn of Chipley, FL., ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister Muriel Hastings, her brother Charles Lent and her brother Edward A. Lent, who lost his life in Korea in 1952.
Jean enjoyed many hobbies including cross stitch, reading and doll collecting. She was a former breeder of American Saddlebred horses. She attended Southern Connecticut State College, Eastern Connecticut State College, and the University of Hartford. She was a Librarian for many years working in school and public libraries in New Haven, Hamden, Greenwich, Bethlehem and Hebron, CT. She and her husband Douglas and her family, owned and operated the Ivoryton Inn of Essex, CT for five years.
A funeral home service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
