Gail M. Rogers was the daughter of Phillip Rogers Sr., and Josephine (Lorenzo) Rogers.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Phillip Rogers Jr., Richard "Dick" Rogers, and Leonard Rogers.
Gail is survived by her Uncle Donald Duca, his wife Doris, nephew John Duca, wife Lisa, their children Emilee (Duca) Maloney, husband Nathanael Maloney, children Annabelle, and Charlie,
Melissa (Duca) Brown, husband Mark Brown, their son Carson, Katelyn Duca, and fiance Delaney, and Donald R. Duca, and fiance Anna.
Gail was companions with John "Jack " Rajotte throughout the last two decades, continuing a friendship since early in life. Jack passed in March, and was greatly missed by her, and Family.
Gail was a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University (formerly Willimantic State Teacher's College) holding Bachelor's, and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education, along with Advanced Teaching Certification.
She retired from the Sprague School System where she taught at the Sayles school most of her career, specializing in Kindergarten, and early education grades.
Penny, along with her Mother Josephine cared for her "Nana" Mary (Miceli, Dimarco, Lorenzo) Duca at their home. Nana came from Tusa, Sicily, Italy, and spoke Italian in the home. Nana's Family included a son Joseph DiMarco, his sons Anthony, and Russell, and their Families.
She was very close with her brother Donald, and Family, Uncle Cospano "Gus"Lorenzo, and Aunt Rose (Lorenzo) Evans, husband Henry "Pat"of Westerly). Penny had a lifelong special relationship with her cousins in Westerly, RI; Ernie Evans, Danny Evans, Billy Evans, Henry Jr "Butch Evans," their spouses, and their children, and grandchildren that appreciated her Aunt's special attention. She was particularly fond of her Ladies, Lisa (Evans ) Miller, Danette (Evans) Capalbo, Whitney (Evans) Stamm, and Rosemary Evans, nephews Billy Evans Jr, and David Evans.; and in remembrance of Danny Evans Jr, Troy Evans, and Craig Evans, and Family. She corresponded with her brother's children in Arizona, and Nevada.
Gail worked in her Mother Josephine's Bakery, and Tailor shop. She assisted her mother with her work on the Norwich City Council, and State Democratic Party.
She supported her Brother Lenny's Veteran's Groups work with their, and their Father's Service with the US Navy SeaBees, and Gus, Dick, and Lenny's Norwich, and Hartford Elks Lodges. Gail was active with Italian Cultural Heritage Events, and Dick's work with the FAFA Franklin Avenue Italian Festival.
She was a lifelong Communicant of St Peter and Paul Parish, Catholic Activities, and shared a trip to the Shrine in Medugorje with her Mother, and hosted relatives visiting from Italy. Gail, and her Brothers had a band that performed in Connecticut, and Rhode Island "The Nomads." She enjoyed the Groton Senior Center & Library w Jack, Researching Genealogy with her Mother, Jack with Antiques, and was a member of the Mayflower Descendants Families.
Her love of Arts, Music, and Plays, was encouraged, and shared with Family, and lives on in her Spirit with the new generations of her Family.
Gail, and Jack were the victims of a car accident by another driver in September of 2023; her Brother Donald had cared for her weekly since, a unique devotion, and much appreciated by All.
