Frances Evelyn Davis, age 81, of Groton, Connecticut passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 surrounded by the loving comfort of her daughter& grandchildren. Frances was born in New Limerick, Maine to Elizabeth ( Porter) and Allen Burpee August 11, 1941. She was one of 11 siblings and is predeceased by all except Patrick Burpee of Norwich,CT.
She was also predeceased by her only son Johann Liebig, Jr in 2018.
She is survived by 2 daughters Kerry Butler of Groton Ct and Tammy Edwards of New Hampshire, several grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Affectionately known as "Franny" or "Mickey" her entire life, she took enormous pride in her work & work ethic as a packer/ inspector at Federal Paper Board which later became Caraustar before its closure& her retirement.
Frances's focus was always her children, and her grandchildren.
Many tears were shed& battles waged for them& because of them. She single -handedly raised her children in an era without help or support for single mothers. She later became like a 2nd parent in helping raise her 5 grandchildren.
Anyone who truly knew Franny knew it was always life, and love on Franny's terms.
But one thing is certain- when it came down to it her love was unconditional in the giving.
Her wisdom, wit, humor, wry jokes & punchlines will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Our most sincere gratitude is also extended to Hospice, to every doctor, nurse,paramedic/ EMT and her care teams wherever she landed as her health declined.
A very special hug to Richie @ New London Rehab for putting a sparkle in mom's blue eyes again ,even briefly.
So- put on her #1 favorite song -Sinatra's " My Way" and celebrate the most intricate, dedicated & amazing woman I had the gift of calling my mother for 52 years.
Rest easy Ma. I got it from here.
