Groton-Evelyn Mattie Swiacke, age 100, passed away at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton on March 12, 2025. She was born in Colchester on February 5, 1925 to the late Burdette and Emma (Baumberger) Doubleday. She married Anthony Swiacke Sr. on January 3, 1946 in Norwich. He predeceased her in 1992.
Evelyn is survived by a son Anthony Swiacke Jr. and his wife Peggy of Danielson, a son Paul M. Swiacke of North Windham and a daughter Deborah DiPalma of Groton. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a few nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 17 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 4th at 10:00 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Please visit www.labenskifuneralhome.com to leave an online condolence for the Swiacke family.
