Norwich-David Allen Wigfield Sr., age 67, of Norwich passed away on February 5, 2016 at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born on July 13, 1948 to the late Irving and Virginia (Strawderman) Wigfield. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis (Pounch) Wigfield in 2012.
David was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam as a Seabee, and is a member of the Lebanon American Legion Post 180. He worked 20 years at Balf Construction in Hartford in the Operating Engineers union. More recently, he was the owner of Stadium Motors in Franklin for 24 years. He was a member of the Norwich Greater Chamber of Commerce, serving as a board member and Chairman of its annual Norwich Auto Show. He volunteered and was Chairman of the Norwich Winterfest Parade, and was also former President of the Red Cedar Lake Association.
He is survived by son David A. Wigfield Jr. and his wife Beth of Baltic, son Jason Wigfield and his wife Tracy of Oakdale, his four grandchilden Andrew, Nicholas, Emily and Catherine Wigfield, and his special companion Terry Wujcik of Norwich. He also leaves a sister Shirley Ezzell and her husband Eugene of Canterbury and a brother Leroy Wigfield and his wife Emma of Ohio. He is predeceased by a sister Cathy Feathers and a brother Irvin Wigfield.
