Cordell Robtoy, “Corky”, was born to Adelphis Robtoy Sr. and Ruth Ovitt Robtoy on April 1, 1939 in North Fairfax, VT. He died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 1, 2023. He had been on Hospice care due to complications from pneumonia. He was one of 13 children. He is survived by his wife, Marcella (Przekop) Robtoy, daughters and their families; Sherri Robtoy (Ralph Murray) and Tracy Wigfield(Jason Wigfield), as well as two grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Wigfield.
Corky had a lengthy career, beginning as a young farmer on his family farm in northern VT. He held odd jobs until moving to CT and being drafted into the US Army in 1963, where he was stationed in Korea. After being discharged from service, he married Marcella and had two daughters, Sherri and Tracy. After marriage he was employed by Gilman Brothers in the early 70s as a production manager in the foam department. He then spent the next 30 years working as a delivery/salesman for Tip Top, Nissen, and Drakes Bakeries. He retired in the late 90s due to health issues. He always loved farming. He raised many animals especially turkeys and maintained a hearty vegetable garden on his property in Franklin, CT. Anyone who knew Corky knew how much he prided his garden, always boasting about his rhubarb, beets, yellow beans, and tomatoes. He also loved spending summer days sitting by his pool drinking ice cold Busch beer. But more than gardening and his pool he loved his grandchildren, Andrew and Emily. He also leaves behind four siblings, dozens of nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 💔
Arrangements will be managed by Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich, CT. There will be a funeral mass held at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Oakdale, CT on April 29 @ 9:30, followed by a burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Greenville, CT. No prior viewing will be offered.
