Carol was strong, selfless, compassionate, caring, faithful to God and loyal. She gave her all to her family.
Yellow was her favorite color, she liked to sew, was a great cook and baker, enjoyed having the family together for holiday meals, loved Sunday drives and camping with the family in Point Judith, R.I.
She graduated from Norwich Free Academy and went to work for John A. Moran and Sons Insurance. Then for the private law firm of Brown Jewett and Driscoll, while Charles W. Jewett was Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut.
On Sept. 17, 1955, she married her husband, Thomas P. Murphy Jr. at St Mary’s Church in Greenville.
She taught religion classes at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church when her children were young. When her children were older, she worked at the Shetucket Harness leather goods store.
Carol joins her husband, Thomas P. Murphy Jr.; her parents, Alice and Andrew Kirby; and her sisters and their husbands, Alicia Dyer (Robert), and Avis Lemire (Donald).
Carol leaves behind her daughter Carlean Wirt (Greg); and her son Thomas Murphy (Maureen); step-grandchildren and a great-stepgrandson, nieces and a nephew, and cousins.
She had a terrific team with her. Thank you to the staff at St. Jude Common for their aid and caring. To the people at Norwichtown Rehabilitation for their guidance, experience, and compassion. To Dr. Deutsch for all the years of great care. A special thank you to her caregiver Danae. The care and love she gave was a big comfort to Carol and her family. She truly is a Godsend, an angel.
