Carl was born October 18, 1957 in Rapid City, SD, the son of William Zorn and the late Annie Zorn. Moving to El Paso TX shortly after, where he attended Irvin High school. After high school he joined the United States Navy in 1976, serving on the George C Marshall for six years leaving the Navy as a Machinist Mate first class.
Carl had worked as a Technical Advisor for Turbines and Outage Planning at Dominion Nuclear for over 36 years. He was very involved in Bozrah politics, serving as Selectman for many years and First Selectman from November 2019. He was a member of the Republican Town Committee, and also served as Tree Warden.
Carl was the owner of Devils River Farm, which developed out of his love for beekeeping. He was an avid golfer and bowler and especially enjoyed fly fishing. When his son was young, he served as a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and was a ham radio operator for many years. Over the years, he restored several old antique tractors and was currently in the process of restoring a 1957 Studebaker truck.
He is survived by his father William Zorn and wife Deborah Zorn, his son Joseph Zorn, brother William Zorn III and by his sister Hazel Tipton.
Calling hours will be held at the Church and Allen Funeral Home in Norwich on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 11 am to 1 PM. The funeral service will be held after at 1 PM. Burial will follow in Bozrah Rural Cemetery.
