A lifelong resident of Norwich, he was the youngest son of the late Salvatore (“Tony”) and Grace (Furnari) Casadonte.
He was a diehard New York Yankee fan and an avid car buff. He especially enjoyed cruising in his ’76 Corvette and ’89 Firebird Formula, and was a past member of the “For Corvettes Only” car club.
Al graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1966 and until this retirement in 1998 was employed by the State of Connecticut at the former Norwich Hospital as a materials manager.
He was also a parishioner and usher at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown.
Married for 50 years to his wife Laura (Richard), he also leaves behind a daughter Gina and her husband Hunter Senft Grupp of Walden, New York, two granddaughters Alela and Lucia. He is also survived by 4 nephews and 1 niece and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Casadonte and sister Marianna Correnti.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 52 West Town Street, Norwichtown, on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone will meet directly at the Church. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 260 Harland Road, Norwich.
