Our dad, Manuel S. Navarro, was an amazing and loving husband to our mom for 59 years of solid marriage. He was a kind and generous father and grandfather. His children include Melvin, Marlon, Kendy, Noel, and Timi, his goddaughter, whom he treated like his own daughter. His grandchildren include Kathleen, Lorenzo, Raphael, Victoria, Charlotte, Scott, Kaitlin, Jessica, Brandon, Max, Lurich, Llewelyn, Laura, Lizbeth, and another on the way.
We are thankful for his kindness, generosity, and most of all his unconditional love. We want to thank our dad for all the time he spent with us, always present in our lives, creating beautiful memories along the way. He always made us feel that we are his priority. We are thankful for the fun times, for all the laughter and the memories. There are so many awesome memories with him.
We are thankful for all the life lessons he taught us, teaching us how to be strong and independent, and for teaching us so many other things big and small, too many to count. He imparted wisdom through his actions, and his actions were always grounded with love. Although he was a man of few words, he was well verse in history, politics, science, and culture. He was always reading a book, enriching his mind. He was a mathematician and a man of science. He also wrote beautiful poetry about his life with our mom, even writing a song about her. He had an amazing mind!
Our dad was a man of integrity. He was physically, emotionally, and intellectually strong. He was an avid golfer and a competitive chess player. He was an athlete in his younger years, playing different sports. He also lifted weights up until he was in his 80’s. He enjoyed traveling and he took us on so many road trips and vacations.
He identified himself as an engineer and an entrepreneur; and more importantly he identified himself first as a family man, always dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren, and to our cousins. We are proud of his achievements in his professional life, building a company (MS Navarro Engineering) that provided electrification to numerous remote islands and cities throughout the Philippine archipelago in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He moved us to the United States in 1986 and continued his business here. He created jobs for so many people and was always concerned with his employees’ welfare. He had a BS in Electrical Engineering and was a licensed Professional Engineer in the U.S. and the Philippines.
We will do our best to live by his example and greet each day with love in our hearts, the same way our dad lived his life. His love will continue to live on and will live on through eternity. We have no doubt that he is now with Jesus, looking down at us with a smile.
Dad, we want you to know that we will take care of mom and give her our time, love, and support. We will continue to be strong and will carry on until we complete our mission here on Earth, then one day we will be reunited again. Thank you, dad. We love you.
