EUGENE DALE JOHNSON, 82, was born on May 22, 1937 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Ivan and Selma Johnson. He had nine brothers and sisters. He grew up in Eau Claire and after graduating high school in 1956, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served three years in Camp Pendleton, California. In 1957, he returned to Eau Claire to marry Nancy who he had met in high school. They both then returned to Camp Pendleton. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1959 at which time he and Nancy returned to Eau Claire. In 1961, they had their first son, Dale. In 1962, they moved to Glendale, California where Eugene worked as a painter in the Painter’s Union. In 1965, they had their second son, Michael. They then moved to Lake View Terrace, California. After working several years as a painter in the Painter’s Union, Eugene decided to start his own business as a licensed Painting Contractor. In 1975, they moved to Northridge, California. Eugene retired from his painting business in 2002.
Eugene enjoyed helping others and was a skilled craftsman. He enjoyed helping with the little things such as helping assemble toys during Christmas or at a Birthday. He also enjoyed helping with the big things such as home improvement projects. He enjoyed building furniture for the home, assembling picture crafts and designing the picture frames to decorate the home, watching sports, being with family, and in his spare time he also enjoyed working on puzzles.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons, Dale and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Yadi; his grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, and Luke; his brothers, Vern and Don; and his sisters, Joyce, Arlene, and Carol.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Selma; his brothers, Del, Bob, and Bernard; and his sister, Bonnie.
Eugene was very much loved and he will truly be missed.
