After 55 years of ministry in schools in Ireland and California, Sister Anne Murphy, also known as Sr. Campion, went home to God on January 6.
Sister Anne was born on March 3, 1933 in Glendun, Northern Ireland and entered the Sisters of St. Louis on September 3, 1951. She taught in Clogher before being missioned to the U.S. in 1956. Sister Anne taught in Nativity (El Monte), Holy Name of Mary (San Dimas), Our Lady of Refuge (Long Beach), and St. Mel (Woodland Hills). She was an incredible math teacher who taught at Bishop Amat, St. Anthony and Louisville High Schools. Sister Anne also served the St. Louis Sisters in a leadership position from 1979-1986. She retired from teaching in 2009 and has been living at Mary Health of the Sick nursing home for the past two years.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:00 am, St. Bernardine Church, 24410 Calvert Street, Woodland Hills, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
