William “Hunter” Malone, 70, passed away unexpectedly in his home on May 09, 2023. The family is deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Hunter was born in Salzburg, Austria to Albert Malone and Ada Evans Malone on January 12, 1953.
Hunter is survived by his wife Janet (Stahlecker) Malone, daughter Lisa Malone, granddaughter Hannah Conway (Lane), great grandson JC Conway, brother Albert “Al” Malone (Patricia) of Phenix City, Alabama, sister Ashe Malone (Rebecca) of Houston, Texas. There are several nieces, nephews, and extended family members that will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his best bud, his beloved dog, Duke.
Hunter graduated with his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 1977. He had over 38 years of service to his community hospital, DCH Regional Medical Center as a Case Worker before he retired in 2017. He spent his retired years spending time with his loving wife, taking care of his daughter, falling in love with his new great grandson, and weekly margaritas with his best friends for “Girl’s Night”.
Hunter will be deeply missed by many. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, colleague, and friend. His wife first fell in love with his great sense of humor 41 years ago. He was a cherished employee of DCH and had many friends from work. He was a great and steadfast man who always made time to help others.
A memorial and visitation with the family will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Northport on Friday, May 19 beginning at 5 p.m.
