Billy was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School in 1972 and later worked for General Motors until he retired. Billy was a very loving father and always showed his love through gifts, encouragement and time spent together. Taking the annual summer beach trip to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and spending time with his boys coaching their Little League Teams at Kentuck park were special moments that he cherished deeply. Billy was a risk-taker and visionary which made him so much fun to be around. He always voiced his dream to live on the coast or to have a cabin by the lake so his grandkids could come stay with him for the summer.
Once he became a grandfather, known as “Papa Billy”, he took the role to heart and was a world favorite to his grandkids. He was always big on celebrating birthdays and made it a point to create a list of birthdates that hung on his refrigerator so he could remember to celebrate each family member properly. He was not going to forget to call you and sing Happy Birthday and make sure you received his gift. He loved selflessly with his whole heart and genuinely wished everyone happiness, as he often quoted, “if you’re happy then I’m happy.” Any positive moments spent with Billy would leave you feeling unbelievably uplifted and filled with joy. The pride that he wore as a son, brother, father, grandfather and Child of God radiated throughout his daily purpose and will forever leave a lasting legacy in our hearts for years to come until we all meet again.
