NORTHPORT – William Marvin Stillwell, age 72, of Northport, died May 10, 2016, at home. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Williamson Cemetery with Bro. Tim Baumgarten officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, WJ and Bama Wheat and RM and Mamie Stillwell; parents, John W. and Auleta Stillwell; and sister, Mamie Ruth Hallman.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Stillwell Hunter (Joey) of Northport, Ala.; son, David Anthony Stillwell (Amanda) of Northport, Ala.; sister, Hazel Stillwell Wheat (Johnny) of Northport, Ala.; brother, John Wesley Stillwell, Jr. (JoAnne) of Northport, Ala.; and grandchildren, Ashley Diane Hunter of Columbus, Ga., Joseph Ross Hunter (Kassie) of Ft. Riley, Kan., David Jacob Hunter (Danielle) of Macon, Ga., Joel Russell Wicken of Northport, Ala. and Joseph Lee Stillwell of Northport, Ala.; great-grandchild, Kinleigh Grace Hunter; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billy was a lifetime resident of Northport. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School where he was a member of the track and basketball teams.
Billy served in the United States Army and Alabama National Guard then worked at Bruno’s grocery. He worked as a roofing contractor for over 25 years.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ross and Jake Hunter, Joel Wicken and Joseph Stillwell and nephews, Steve, Mike and Justin Wheat and Wesley Stillwell.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jeffery Laubenthal, Lacy Quarles, Dr. Pedro Lopez, DeWaine Brewer, Wayne Parker, Paul Bagwell, Carol Bolling, Larry Watson and Doug Hollihand, Jimmy Albright, Terry Brown, David Levins, Jeff Johnson, Wes Cotton, employees of the Northport Post Office and members of First Freewill Baptist Church of Northport.
