COKER | William Robert (Bett) Dearman, age 82, of Coker, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport with Dr. Ken Cheek officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider directing. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Dearman was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Miller Dearman; parents, Robert and Vera Dearman; sister, Myrtle Snipes, and brothers, Henry Dearman and Joe Dearman.
Survivors include son, William Harold Dearman (Connie) of Coker; daughter, Marie D. Cannon (David) of Montgomery; grandson, Robert Matthew Dearman of Northport; sister, Betty D. Allen (Jimmy) of Tuscaloosa; brothers, John Dearman of Cottondale and Jim Dearman (Nan) of Augusta, Ga.
Mr. Dearman served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He worked 27 years for the Barnes & Norris Gin and retired from the West Alabama Asphalt Plant. After his retirement he enjoyed growing vegetables (playing in the dirt.)
Pallbearers will be Bill Barnes, Byron Sprayberry, William Barnes, Patton Barnes, Fletcher Barnes, Tyler Duckworth and Dyer Moore.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne, 3rd floor MICU DCH Regional Medical Center, Dr. Barry Newsom, Dr. Jeanne Lipscomb, Dr. Dirk Berry, and Hospice of West Alabama.
