Tommy M. Dockery Jr., age 70, of Northport, died May 11, 2012, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabell “Mary” Robertson; his father, Tommie M. Dockery; his stepfather, James “Jim” Robertson; and his sister, Mary Louise Wallace.
Survivors include his daughter, Alanna Dockery Horn (Michael); his son, Tommy M. Dockery III (Melissa); his brother, Jerome Dockery; his grandchildren, Christian and Alexander Horn and Natalie Wooten; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Tommy was a member of the Alabama National Guard and played semi-pro football. He was a beloved father and grandfather who lived life to the fullest, always with a smile. Many called him the best salesman they had ever known, and his grandchildren lovingly called him “Duck-Duck”.
Pallbearers will be Leland Gregg, Michael Dockery, Kris Cozart, Shean Lee, Glenn Holemon, and Lee Gregg.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Holt, O'Neal Bridges, Buddy Parker, John Kemp, all of his many customers and friends, and his extended family at the “office”.
