Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Elaine Mathis; daughter Alexa Mathis; special family friend, Remington Brown; brother in law, David Ramsey, his dog, Pickles, who loved her daily car rides and a host of friends. Preceding him in death besides his parents is his son, Stanley Mathis.
Thomas retired from BF Goodrich after 32 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed tinkering with antique cars and tractors, going to Estate sales, fishing and watching deer from his property at the lake and traveling to the Gatlinburg and Colorado. He also loved eating Chinese food and seafood.Thomas loved his family and always enjoyed doing even the smallest things to help them and never wanted anything in return. He was very proud of his daughter and watching her play softball for the Northside Rams and for Stillman College.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from the chapel of Sunset Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until service time.
Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Toney, Remington Brown, David Ramsey, Keith Lancaster, Andy Smelley and Gary Osborn.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are LaDonna Beck, Northside FBLA, Retirees of BF Goodrich, Coach Tommy Honeycutt and the Northside Rams Softball Team, Coach Chris Hilliker and the class of 2021 Northside Rams Football Team and Northside High School Booster Club, Coach Joel Penfield, and the members of the Stillman College Softball Team, the staff and instructors of Stillman College, Agee Chiropractic, West Alabama Antique Tractor Club, Casey & Mikki Sellers, Rodney Johnson and Chuck Parks, Emily & Clint Madison, Rodney Johnson and the High Intensity (HI) travel softball team and parents, and Casey Sellers All - Out 18 - U travel softball girls and parents. Family and friends will preside for Mr. Mathis' service.
