Subhankar went to B.E. College Model in Kolkata, India and then to R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata, India where he attained his M.B.B.S degree. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University, and UAB. He worked as an anesthesiologist at DCH, Tuscaloosa, as part of APMC, where he was fondly known as “Dr. Bandy”.
Subhankar touched many lives and will be remembered for his warmth and welcoming nature and for his wonderful sense of humor. He was loving and went out of his way to help others. He was a pillar of support for his family and friends. He was curious with varied interests, a true renaissance man. His spirit will live on in the hearts that he touched.
Subhankar is preceded in death by his father, Parmatha Nath Banerjee, and his son, Ovik Banerjee. Subhankar is survived by his wife, Sati Nath; children, Orunima Banerjee and Anondo Banerjee; mother, Mukti Banerjee; and sister, Sikharini Majumdar.
Visitation will be on Friday (2/16) from 5 pm to 8 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Rites will be on Saturday (2/17) at the family home from 11 am to 2 pm. The Memorial will be on Saturday from 6 pm to 9 pm.
