MARIETTA, GA. - Ruby Lee Pate Parham, age 96, of Marietta, Ga., passed away April 18, 2018 at Ross Memorial Nursing Home. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Old Salem Church Cemetery in Gordo, Ala. with Dr. Donald Payne officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Parham, Sr.; son, James Arthur Parham, Jr.; and sisters, Ruth Smith and Doris Nell Hutt.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn Parham (Linda), Gary Parham (Michele) and Keith Parham; daughter, Karen Wilson (Robert); sisters, Lou Holt, Roberta Moses, Alice McJenkins, and Lois Banks; brother, Clifford Pate; grandchildren, Kelvin Parham, Amy Kyte (David) and Gregory Parham; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten and London Kyte.
She was born and raised in Pickens County, Alabama, the second of seven siblings in a close-knit family. A lifelong Christian, she was active in Forest Lake Baptist Church and also an ardent supporter of the Fraternal Order of Police. She was a dedicated homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin Parham, Gregory Parham, David Kyte and Mack Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roberta Ford, god-daughter, Nita Bradshaw, Ricky Bradshaw, Sherry Jo Reed, members of Forest Lake Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Police, Joann Caudill and Deborah Leach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Lake Baptist Church, American Lung Association and American Heart Association.
