Richard Hardin Collins, age 53, of Gordo, died June 8, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Willie Caesar officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rayburn Collins; his brother, Jerry Collins; his granddaughter, Rebecca Keene; and his wife, Collette Collins.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle McCool (Randy) of Tuscaloosa and Celeste Barbour (Sterling) of Pelham; his sons, Mark Keene (Diana) of Calera, Robert Connell (Candace) of Huntsville, and Alanus Collins and Jerry Collins, both of Gadsden; his mother, Dorothy Charlene Collins of Coker; his sister, Annette Tingle (L.E.) of Woodstock; his brothers, Ray Collins (Vickie) and Doug Collins (Teresa), both of Northport; and his grandchildren, Daniel Keene, Cole Keene, Preston McCool, Bella Keene, Quinton McCool, Adyn Barbour, Chloe Barbour, and Leland Connell.Great Granddaughter Addison Keene.
Ricky was born and raised in Northport and was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. He owned and operated Rickey Collins Concrete for many years. Ricky loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and hunting with his family and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Perry, Shane Hamner, Brandon Hamner, Jerry McClure, Stuart Sexton, Rene Zeringue, and all his special nieces.
Honorary pallbearers are Amedisys Hospice Care, DCH Regional Medical Center staff of 2nd Floor, Breaking Free Rescue Mission, Mechelle Chambers, Donna Bach, the Barbour family, the Zeringue family, Judy McClure, Mr. and Mrs. David Perry, Lynda Nevin, and Jerry McClure.
