Mary Stella Owen

Mary “Stella” Owen, age 82, of Cottondale, died Feb. 8, 2013, at home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Leon Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Joseph Owen; her son, James Patrick “Pat” Owen; and her sister, Mattie “Lois” Byrd.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Hall (Steve) of Cottondale; her sons, Paul Michael Owen (Tammy) of Corinth, Miss. and Randall “Randy” Owen (Stephanie) and Kenneth Byrd Owen, both of Cottondale; her grandchildren, Paul Michael Owen Jr. (Stephanie), Brittney Ross, Taylor and Jamie Owen, and Robert Joseph Owen; and her great-grandchildren, Jaymison Paul and Aaliyah Graham.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.

Pallbearers will be Noah Hall, Noah Hall III, James Lord, Tony Richardson, Lawrence Lowery, Bryan Foster, and Randall Owen.

Honorary pallbearers are nurses of DCH Regional Medical Center, Southern Care Hospice, and family of Mt. Zion Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
