He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Williams, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Cecil Williams, Sr, his sister, Anne Long and his in-laws, Rev. & Mrs. James K. Sharp.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret S. Williams of Northport, his son, Jeremy Williams of Eutaw, daughters - Cecilia Rice (Jarrod) of Duncanville and Cerrell Atkinson (Bennie) of Ralph. Sister, Mary Ruth Hill, of Cedar Bluff, MS. 7 grandchildren: Ashley Wetterling (Scott) of Lewisville, TX, Justin Williams (Amy) of Eutaw, Taylor Weatherby of Ralph, Amber Rice of Nashville, Brooke Weatherby of Ralph, Wesley Weatherby of Ralph and Evan Rice of Duncanville. 6 great grandchildren: Connor, Kaitlyn, Cody and Brady Wetterling of Lewisville, TX and Emma and Bradleigh Williams of Eutaw. Nieces and nephews.
Cecil graduated high school in 1956 and joined the Marines for 2 years. In 1962 at the age of 24 he decided to go to college. In June of 1966 he graduated with his Bachelors in Dairy Science from Mississippi State University. Also, in June of that year he was married to Margaret. In 1970 he went back to school for his Masters in Dairy Science.
In 1976 Cecil and Margaret moved the family from Jackson, MS to Tuscaloosa, AL. In 1978 Cecil started A-1 Sharpening Service. He kept this business going while starting The Nut Shop in 1992. In the late 90s Margaret joined the businesses and they began working together daily. Cecil sharpened tools for 42 years before retiring that part of the business in 2020.
While we as his family are proud of him and all his successes in life, our pride can not outshine the pride he had for his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and spouses of his family. Cecil's dedication to his family and the pride and love he had for his family was evident daily. If anyone came into the shop and asked about a kid, grandkid, great grandkid or even one of the spouses, Cecil would shine talking about the newest adventure of whichever child he was asked about. As we have all grown up and out the “shop” is the one central location where we all still gather at during the day. Cecil always had time to talk to us if we stopped by.
Several years ago Cecil and Margaret started going nearly every weekend to the farm in Philadelphia, MS where Margaret grew up. Cecil bought a caterpillar and started cleaning up around the farm. That is where he was the happiest. If all the kids, grandkids and great grandkids were over there for a get together that made him even happier.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
