On Heaven's shore, he was met by the love of his life, Levenia Smith Channell. Welcoming him was his parents, Victor Freedman Channell and Ruby Olean Skelton Channell. Greeting him with hugs was his sister, Frances Channell Booth and husband Archie Leonard Booth, his brothers, Victor Paul Channell, Sebron Lee Channell and John Mack Channell. A host of relatives, friends, and neighbors were singing praises.
Bidding him farewell on his voyage were his daughters Diane Channell and Sue Channell Anders with husband Ronnie Anders, grandchildren Brian Anders and wife Christy, Kaci Anders Massey and husband Dax, and two great grandchildren John Leland Anders and Lily James Anders. Mr. Leland Channell said goodbye to a host of family and friends. He loved his community of Buhl where he was born and raised. Most of all he loved his church and his people there at Northwood Hills Baptist.
The Funeral will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Northwood Hills Baptist Church at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church in Buhl.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Anders, Brian Anders, Dax Massey, Gene Booth, Wade Gilliam, Geoffrey Love, Jimmy Thigpen, Gary Smith and Ricky Penton.
Honorary pallbearers are Rusty Selman, Northwood Hills Baptist Church, Morgan Sunday School class, Hospice of West Alabama, Chuck Plowman, Kenny Brown, Heather Pugh, sitters: Janis Junkin, Amanda Black and Jessica Wyatt, Sipsey Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., nephews Johnny Thigpen and Gene Booth and niece Rachel Love.
The family wishes to say thank you to all who visited and assisted in his home care filling each day with love and joy. To honor Mr Channell donations can be given in his honor to Northwood Hills Baptist Church or Hospice of West Alabama.
We can hear him singing with the Angels. "In the sweet by and by we shall meet on that beautiful shore."
