ROMULUS – Laura Faye Boothe Thomas, age 91, of Romulus, Alabama, entered Heaven's gates on Monday, October 23, 2017. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Buhl Church of God with David Kelly, David Howell, Ed Boothe and Tony Boothe officiating. Burial will follow in the Caledonia Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight, October 25, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Buhl Church of God.
Pallbearers will be Jason Strickland, Donald Wayne Sanders, Mason Haywood, Shawn Boothe, Corey Strickland, Bradley Boothe, Christopher Boothe and J.D. Boothe.
Honorary pallbearers are numerous friends of the Buhl and Romulus communities, Margie Pate, Helen Ware, her many nieces and nephews, Amedisys Hospice, Paulette Woods, Nancy and Hoyt Fondren and Geraldine Gilliland.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Faye was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends especially her coconut cakes. She loved her family unconditionally and always made time for anyone in need.
Over the years, Faye has touched many lives with her servant heart and compassion. She had an unwavering faith in God and loved to listen to southern gospel music and share her faith with others.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Eddie Boothe; her second husband, Wayne S. Thomas; her children, Phillip W. Boothe and wife, Becky Boothe; her son-in-law, Luther Sanders, Jr,; her parents, Elias and Buna Boothe; her grandchildren, Peyton Haywood, Gabe Haywood and wife, Jennifer, Farrah Boothe, and Bradley Gene Boothe; and ten of her siblings.
She is survived by her children and spouses; Charlotte Strickland (Bobby) of Romulus, Ala., Carol Redd (Frank) of Romulus, Ala., Jenice Stroup (Fred) of Moundville, Ala., Elaine Haywood (James) of Moundville, Ala., Ed Boothe (Bonnie) of Buhl, Ala., Tony Boothe (Glenda) of Romulus, Ala. and Dale Boothe of Romulus, Ala.; 18 loving grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Madgeline Kelly of Buhl, Ala. and Lillie Ragland of Centerville, Ala., and a very special friend, Curtis Gregory.
