Joyce McManus Griffin

NORTHPORT | Joyce McManus Griffin, age 62, of Northport, died August 22, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, with Pastor Ben Jameson officiating and David Watson assisting. A private burial will follow in Fayette Memorial Gardens with the funeral home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

She was preceded in death by her mother Rachel McManus.

She is survived by her husband John T. Griffin of Northport, Ala.; daughter, Allison Joyce Pope (Jeremy) of Cottondale, Ala.; son, James Lamar Duncan, Jr. (Suzie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; stepchildren, Chris Griffin and Jill Moore of Tuscaloosa, and Janet Conners of Fairhope; brothers, James Fred McManus, Jr. (Judy) of Atlanta, Ga.; her father, James Fred McManus of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four precious granddaughters, Marion Alma Price Duncan, Jamison Elizabeth Duncan of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Morgan Lane Kimbrough and Madyson Shane Kimbrough of Cottondale, Ala.

Mrs. Griffin was born on September 2, 1952 to Rachel and Fred McManus of Tuscaloosa. She attended Tuscaloosa High School and graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham. Mrs. Griffin was a longtime employee of Sealy Management. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, boating, travel, and spending time with friends and family. Joyce will always be remembered for her smile and infectious laugh. She also leaves behind her loving dog, Caleb.

Pallbearers will be Chris Griffin, Matt Harbison, John Harden, Brian McManus, Patrick McManus, and Jeremy Pope.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Tina Woods (UAB Oncology Department), Four Winds Neighborhood, Hospice of West Alabama and Sealy Management.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
