TUSCALOOSA | James Henry Lowery, age 77, of Tuscaloosa, died May 10, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Griffith directing. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight, May 12, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lowery; sons, Darwin Lowery (Rebecca); daughter, Teresa Wingard (James C.) and Cheryl Elliot; brother, Gene Lowery (Terry); sisters, Geneva Madison (Charles) and Ruth Lockhart (James); grandchildren, Christopher Gravette (Shelby), Clayton Gravette, Ben Lowery, and Jon Lowery; and great-grandchild, Emma Brooke Gravette.
James was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a highly respected master tile craftsman, and an avid Alabama football fan.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Gravette, Christopher Gravette, Dusty Porter, and Paul Champion.
Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Graves, Mark Wheat, Gorden Appling, employees of Wheat's Carpet One.
