Grady Wilson Christian

NORTHPORT | Grady Wilson Christian, age 84, of Northport, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Jared Case officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Memory Gardens with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman and Alice Christian; aunt, Pearl Key; uncle, Fred Key; and grandparents, Mae and Grady Key.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Christian; daughter, Diane Meadows (David) of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sons, David Christian (Marlene) of Northport, Ala. and Don Christian (Pam) of Prattville, Ala.; grandchildren, Bryan Christian (Stephanie), Mende Cox (Jeremy), Ryan Meadows, Kimberly Meadows, Carson Christian, and Kennedy Christian; and great-grandchildren, Brady Christian, Madilyn Yanez, Ella Cox, Kelly Christian, Bryce Meadows, and Farrah Meadows.

Grady proudly served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Tingey during the Korean War. He retired from B.F. Goodrich after 35 years. He was a member of Northport Baptist Church and former member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida.

Born on February 14, 1930 in Parrish, Ala., he was married 63 years to the love of his life and raised three children. He loved his family and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed!

Pallbearers will be David Christian, Don Christian, David Meadows, Brady Christian, Bryan Christian, and Carson Christian.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Reba Howell Sunday School Class of Northport Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caring Days, Northport Baptist Church, Amedisys Hospice, and Cornerstone Baptist Church Panama City Beach Florida.
