George Taylor

TUSCALOOSA – George Marshall Taylor, age 87, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., passed away November 21, 2023. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Five Points Baptist Church with Rev. Drew Heurion officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The body will lie in state 60 minutes prior to the service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Jo Ann Taylor, parents Charlie and Mary Durham Taylor ; sisters Charline Murphy, Margaret Walker, and Marilyn Aldridge.

Survivors include son, Mike (Michelle); daughter, Judy Jenkins (Garrett); grandchildren, Marshall Taylor, Jill Davis (Bart), Corbin Taylor (Callie), Taylor Jenkins (Shanna), Kevin Jenkins (Taylor), Kristian Page and Cori Page; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Glenda "Sissy" Gray and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was born March 13, 1936 in Birmingham, Ala. and was a devoted husband, father, Pop and friend. He spent his career working over 40 years at Alabama Gas/Energen, retiring in 1996. After retirement, he and Jo Ann, his wife, enjoyed many travels and trips with friends and family. He enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, reading, and many other hobbies.

He has been an active and valued member of Five Points Baptist Church for 25 years.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Taylor, Corbin Taylor, Taylor Jenkins, Kevin Jenkins, Bart Davis, and Kristian Page.

George will be greatly missed by all family and a host of special friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Five Points Baptist Church or the "Lottie Moon” fund at Five Points Baptist Church, 3718 36th Street, Northport, AL 35473.
