Eula Mae Grubbs, age 86, of Northport, died September 29, 2018. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home with Neil Reynolds officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. LB Burkett; husband, John Albert Grubbs; siblings, Dora Lowery, Roy Burkett, Willie Burkett, Lucille Brasher, Dean Lowery, Olen Burkett, Sherman Burkett and Ethel Sprinkle.
Survivors include her brother, L.B. Burkett (Gladys); daughter, Sheila Stromberg (Darrell); sons, Steve Grubbs (Marla), Bob Grubbs (Phylis) and Rodney Grubbs (Shannon); grandchildren, Jonathan Grubbs, Shaun Grubbs (Amy), Kelley Stasiw (Justin), Chris Stromberg (Hayley), Allison Walker (Jay), John Grubbs (Meagan), Olivia Mann (Matthew), Tyler Stromberg, Paul Grubbs (Sarah) and Mitchell Stromberg; and great-grandchildren, Dylann and Olyve Grubbs, Keegan and Berkley Walker and Samwise Grubbs.
Eula Grubbs was born in Fayette, Ala. on October 22, 1931. Raised in the rural community of Stough, she graduated from Fayette County High School in 1950. She trained to be a dental assistant at Bryce Hospital. She married 2Lt. John Grubbs in 1953 and raised four children while living in multiple states and overseas in Germany and Okinawa. Settling in Northport in 1974, she worked at Woolco and helped raise her grandchildren.
She was well known for her delicious meals and hospitality. She loved to shop with her niece, Nadine Bryant. Eula was a member of University Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Grubbs, Shaun Grubbs, John Grubbs, Chris Stromberg, Tyler Stromberg and Mitchell Stromberg.
