Dot was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also a very loving sister, cousin, aunt, niece, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dot was a true disciple of her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ and a splendid example to all that she encountered. She will surely be welcomed into God’s Kingdom.
Dot graduated Tuscaloosa County High School in 1967. She stayed in contact with her senior classmates and truly enjoyed their friendship. After graduation, she went to cosmetology school and became a hairdresser. She worked at Walkers Beauty Shop and when it closed she opened her own shop in her home. Dot had an elderly clientele that she loved dearly and worked to make them beautiful until her stroke about two and a half years ago.
Dot loved her husband and her two sons. To her, Robbie and Ryan never grew up. She always referred to them as her babies or her boys. Dot and Judy (her sister and best friend) were very close. Judy has been Dot’s full-time caregiver since Robert became ill. We are very grateful to Judy for the care she provided Dot.
Dot was the family’s source for information for many years. Dad called her “his secretary”. If anyone wanted to know anything about a friend or family they called Dot. Any information the family wanted to share with the rest of the family, they called Dot. She was mostly a home body, but she loved the telephone. She had a wonderful sense of humor and conversations with her will be missed by many. We can all rejoice and take comfort in the fact that she is with her Lord and will finally be made whole again and bring laughter to Heaven.
Pallbearers will be Keith Houston, Shane Pulmano, Chuck Tindle, Robert Lemons, Wayne Rushing and Nick Perrigin.
Honorary pallbearers are special friends, Jan Rushing and Rena Sanders, the staff of Heritage Nursing Home and staff of Hospice of West Alabama.
