

Clarence Ray Thrasher, age 79, of Northport, died Dec. 15, 2012, at Northport Medical Center – DCH. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Colburn and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Susie Thrasher; and grandson, Casey Thrasher.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Thrasher of Northport; daughter, Sandy Patterson (Homer) of Northport; son, Ceil Thrasher (Sharon) of Northport; brother, Hobson Thrasher; grandchildren, Jacob Hagler, Keena Putnam (Brad), Christopher Patterson, Brent Patterson (Ashley), and Ashton Patterson; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Thrasher was a retired carpenter who served his country honorably as a combat veteran of the Korean War. He blessed our lives by being a loving husband, Daddy and Pawpaw Ray, and we will surely miss his smile and gentle spirit.
Pallbearers will be Donald Sanford, Ronald Sanford, Jakey Barrentine, Brad Putnam, Adam Smith, and Bobby Goff.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Shepherd's Way Christian Church.
