Carlos Russell Dawkins

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home at 9:30 am. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. Jerry Skinner officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Augie Dawkins, his sister, Eddie Lee Dawkins, his brother, William D Dawkins, his grandson Michael Landon Ellison and his wife of 68 years, Mary Shelton Dawkins.

He is survived by his children, Carla Ellison (Kenny), Carol Ramey (Walter), John Dawkins, his granddaughter, Sara Grace Ramey, great granddaughter Savannah Ellison, his sister, Regina Ethridge (Milton), Bobbie Dawkins, sister-in-law and a number of nieces and nephews.

Carlos was born on February 15, 1932 in Millport, AL. He married Mary Edith Shelton on December 22, 1951. Carlos retired from Phifer Wire Products in 1996. He was a follower of Christ and was a member of Indian Lake Baptist Church.

Carlos loved being with family and watching Alabama football.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Ellison, Berneal Ellison, Walter Ramey and Gary Beard.

Honorary pallbearers are Glen Haven Health and Rehabilitation staff, Amedisys Hospice with special thanks to Teresa Garrett, RN.
