Bobby Donald Fields, 88, of Northport, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 4, 2022. Bobby was born on April 27, 1933, in Hale County, Alabama, and was the son of the late Floyd and Edna Snipes Fields.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Williams Fields; brothers, Allen Fields and Eugene “Curley” Fields; and sisters, Cher Godbold, Kathleen Watkins, and Judy Montz.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Chief Petty Officer during the Korean War. He raised three men over his lifetime, a son, Don Fields, and two grandsons, Rob Fields, and Cody Fields. After retirement, he enjoyed authoring and submitting editorials that were often published in both the Tuscaloosa News, and the Northport Gazette.
Left to cherish his memory are son, Robert Donald (“Don”) Fields, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandsons, Robert (“Rob”) Donald Fields, III (Jamie), and Cody Fields (Chelsey); granddaughter, Jennifer Brummett; and five great-grandchildren, Abby Margaret, Emma Claire, Lilly Grace, Ivy, and Elijah.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his daughter-in-law, Jennifer for her help in taking care of him during his last years, as Don could not have done it alone and without her help. Additionally, a special thank you to the staff of Sunset Funeral Home, Pastor Jeremy Griffith, and William and Cindy Stewart, for their assistance during this time.
The family will receive guests for Bobby on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, with the Celebration of Life Service following. His final resting place will be beside his beloved wife, Margaret, at Williamson Cemetery, located in the historic district of downtown Northport.
Pallbearers for the service are: Cody Fields, Rob Fields, Todd Fields, MacKenzie Fields, Brody Taylor, and Ricky Montz.
