Betty Jane was preceded in death by her father & mother, Herman Chester & Lucille Rhinehart Simmons, brother, Reverend Donald W. Simmons & Son-in-law, Steve Abercrombie. She is survived by her husband, Coleman Campbell of 67 years; her brothers, Billy Russell Simmons (Virginia), and Reverend Thomas Simmons (Sarah); her sister, Janet Sue Patrick (Norman) and her children, Coleman ("Champ") Campbell (Rebecca), Lori Jane Abercrombie (Steve) & Charles Ray (Chuck) Campbell (Rayna); Her loving grandchildren, Jessica Lineberry (Trent), Andrew Coleman Campbell (Rosa) & Anna Victoria Campbell Roblero (Eulizes).
Having been spiritually influenced by her precious mother, Lucille, a Saint & mighty warrior for our Lord Jesus, Betty Jane began an early career as a witness for her Saviour. It was in the early years of Camp Meeting that Betty Jane sang in the support ensemble for Bill & Gloria Gaither. She went on to serve as pianist and vocalist for the Nazarene Churches as well as other denominations in need of piano accompaniment. It would be later that Betty Jane would teach vocal harmony and piano to her three children, paving the way for the production of the gospel singers, "The Campbell Family." Under the direction of the late Moderator, Mr. John D. Moore, Jr., a pillar of southern gospel singing, The Campbell Family would debut with such groups as The Blackwood Brothers, The LeFevres, Naomi & The Segos, The Senators, The Heavenly Heirs & Virginia, The Alberta Trio & many more spirit-filled ensembles. The family would also witness on local television and in nursing home facilities.
So, our mother is waiting, yes waiting on Heaven's golden shore for her family to come home. With hands uplifted, we acknowledge all power, honor & praise unto our Redeemer, Wonderful Counselor, Might God, Everlasting Father & Prince of Peace. Amen & Amen.
